Professional responsibility, raising the level of understanding, changing the way an industry operates.
Not always easy items to swallow.

By its shear nature, this topic will raise the hackle of many a participant in the water damage industry.
From the contractor to the manufacture of products, the squirm factor will be significant. My vision is one
where professionals flourish and the untrained get better or dissolve. What’s wrong with a picture that
rarely takes into account the party that does a stellar job and the end user gets the best “bang for the
buck”?

Can or should we migrate to a new paradigm? First, let's answer the question of how did we get to this
place. In my opinion there are many culprits, lack of unbiased education, undue manufacturer influence
and downright complacency within the industry. Heresy you say! But who really benefits in a modified
time and materials scenario; certainly not the end-user.

Let's take education. In the industry’s infancy, many of the educational opportunities were provided
by the manufacturers. It indicated a methodology and manner of operating which may or may not have
provided the most efficient and cost effective manner of applying one's trade. Let me say one thing
right now, I am not anti-manufacturer. My goal is to shift the burden to the restoration contractor to
